GIF Exploration

GIFs (Graphic Interchange Format) have become a staple in today’s technical world. From conveying emotions to showcasing products, many people have incorporated GIFs into their daily lexicon. I’ve been an avid user for a while now, and although people will attack me for it, I use a hard ‘g’ sound when pronouncing GIF. Listen, that’s how the creator of GIF and Obama say it, so I figure it’s correct.

Now, I’ve challenged myself to explore how this medium can be used in conjunction with my artwork. I’ve had the opportunity to create a few hand drawn GIFs that incorporate themes and styles that show up in my daily practice. Take a look below…

As a marketing tool, GIFs are a great way to step out of the box and produce simple, yet interactive content. In school, I was always told video has the highest level of engagement; however, if you don’t have the skills and tech available to produce high-quality video, I think a GIF is the next best option.
